Councillors call for more affordable homes in North West Leicestershire

Councillors in North West Leicestershire have noted that there ‘is a significant need’ for more affordable housing in the county.

Members of the district council are in discussions before finalising its Local Plan, which will outline details of housing to be built in the area in the coming years.

“It is vital that the Local Plan directs development to the most suitable places and also that it helps to make sure that, wherever possible, new affordable housing will be provided to meet the needs of those people who cannot afford to buy their own home” says regeneration and planning chief Trevor Pendleton. “We will continue to develop and refine the new Local Plan to make sure we achieve these aims.”
