Housebuilding on the up across the UK
The latest government figures have shown that completions of new homes across the UK have reached their highest level since 2008.
The figures, from the Department for Communities and Local Government, show that 40,300 homes were begun between January and March 2015 – up 31% on the previous quarter.
Completions of new builds were estimated at 34,040 in the 3rd quarter of 2015 – a figure which is 10% higher than the previous quarter, and 21% than the same quarter in the previous year. This is the highest completion figure since 2008.
Leicestershire was highlighted, alongside London, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Northamptonshire, as one of the areas that was particularly strong in its number of new build starts and completions.
