Housebuilding reaches strongest levels since 2007
Figures this month have shown that housebuilding activity in the UK is at its strongest level since 2007, with the National House Building Council recording 107,017 registrations for housebuilding between the months of January and September 2014.
This represents a 6% increase on the same 9 month period in 2013, and the highest total registrations since 2007, before the recession hit.
Builders must register a house with the NHBC before beginning work on it, meaning that the figures represent the homes that will be built in the coming months.
The NHBC noted that this increase in house building is despite an industry shortage of skilled workers such as carpenters, bricklayers and decorators.
