Leicester in UK top five for house price growth
Leicester’s average house price increased by 11% in 2013, placing it 4th in the country for growth, according to a Nationwide survey.
The survey showed that the average house price rose from £152,052 to £168,778 in the Leicester area – a 3% higher increase than that of the average UK house price. Manchester, London and Brighton were the only cities that ranked higher for growth.
Commenting on the growth, John Waters, managing director of Taylors estate agents said: “We all know Leicester has a lot to offer as far as location is concerned and, compared with other areas, prices are not as high.
“A lot of people have put a move on hold for the past five or six years, due to the economy.”
“There is definitely more confidence now. The market is improving but not at the levels we’ve seen before. I don’t think we will go back to that.”
